ABOUT
The studio came together in the summer of 2003 when Karla and Brian decided to collaborate on a submission for the World Trade Center Memorial Competition. Their entry was selected as a finalist from over 5,200 submissions from around the world. Strawn.Sierralta was officially formed in the fall of 2007, and that same year was awarded the Emerging Visions prize by the Chicago Architectural Club and the American Institute of Architects.
The studio explores issues that span the fields of architecture, landscape design, art, urban planning, ecology and zoology. Strawn.Sierralta’s work seeks to create a sense of place by studying each project’s unique climatic, geographic, psychological, programmatic and social conditions. This conceptual connection is achieved through the generation of environments that expose larger surrounding systems, issues or opportunities that may otherwise go unnoticed. Every project is a collaborative effort produced by hand-picked teams of talented individuals from diverse disciplines.
Site design by Strawn.Sierralta. Running on Cargo.
