Karla Sierralta is an architect, educator and co-founder of Strawn.Sierralta. She was born and raised on the Caribbean coast of Venezuela, a region best known for it's oil, beaches and beauty queens. Karla earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Zulia, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, which she pursued under a Fulbright Scholarship for Environmental Studies. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology where she teaches advanced studios. Karla has previously taught at Universidad Rafael Urdaneta, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Universidad del Zulia. karla@strawnsierralta.com


Brian Strawn is an architect, zoologist and co-founder of Strawn.Sierralta. He grew up in an underground house on a small farm in the flat middle of Illinois, where he raised a troop of four spider monkeys. Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has lived, studied and worked in the UK, Netherlands, Italy and Venezuela. His professional career has spanned the fields of zoological research, modern architecture and historic preservation (including works by Josef Hoffman, Frank Lloyd Wright and Howard Van Doren Shaw). Brian currently serves as a board member of the UIC Architecture Alumni Association and the Chicago Architectural Club. brian@strawnsierralta.com
