Parked Garden: Objects in Mirrors is a prototype for an urban art garden. It is a reaction to the urban parking lot and the void it creates in public space. The Calgary 2006 ArtCity Festival addressed the idea of “Truth & Lies” and sent out a request-for-proposal for an outdoor pavilion for the display of art. The site was one parking spot located on the Stephen Avenue Mall in downtown Calgary. Strawn.Sierralta’s design utilized a mass-produced component of the automobile industry to camouflage a secret art garden behind the reflection of its surroundings.
