Ecology of Foreign Objects is a LEED Platinum environmental center designed for the south side of Chicago. Strawn.Sierralta’s proposal was selected as a finalist in an international design competition sponsored by the City of Chicago Department of Environment, Ford Motor Company, and the State of Illinois in association with the Illinois Institute of Technology. Ecology of Foreign Objects seeks to create a dialogue between nature and artifice: between the marsh and the industrial corridor that surrounds the site; and between the sponsor, Ford Motor Company, and the program, an environmental center.
